Gymnastics

*ALL CLASSES HELD AT THE REC/PLEX 

located at 1180 E. Locust St. in Lancaster*

  • Please try to arrive on time as late arrivals distract the coaches and other children
  • Appropriate dress includes leotards, shorts or swear pants, t-shirts or sweat shirts and socks or bare feet. Please avoid over-sized attire and jewelry. Absolutely no jeans or clothing with snaps, belts, buttons, or zippers will be allowed.
  • Cheerleaders should bring to class their cheer shoes. No street shoes will be allowed.
  • Shoulder length or longer hair must be in a braid, pony, or pig tails
  • Please allow time for and encourage your child to take a potty break before class.
  • Due to safety concerns, please refrain from flash photography
  • Participants will be picked up and returned to the lobby area by an instructor.
  • No food or drink will be allowed in the gym
  • Parents of children under 6 years must remain in the building during class time.
  • Your child’s instructor will be pleased to speak with you briefly after class if you have any questions. If you desire an extended conversation, please make an appointment to meet at a later time so the instructor will not be late for his/her next class.

A NOTE ABOUT DAY-OF-CLASS REGISTRATION:

We encourage you to register your gymnast for classes as early as possible. Your cooperation will help us correctly plan in advance for classes and may lessen the chance of a class cancellation. Class with less than 3 participants will not run; early sign ups help us avoid these closings.

Ninja Bears

An obstacle course based class like the one held in the big gym but sized for our younger ninjas!  Held in the preschool room on smaller equipment but just as challenging.

Competitive Team

The successful team member will learn all four routines needed for competition. Our competitive team program consists of all USAG Levels 3-9. Each team member must continuously maintain a Family Y membership. Practices are held year round; days and time may vary.

Cheernastics/Tumbling

Our Cheernastics class will focus on progressing ALL levels of tumbling skills needed for both cheer and gymnastics. In addition, we will add challenging stations to develop the flexibility and strength to perform these skills safely. Ninja Mania

Sign up for Fairfield County’s first Ninja-Style, obstacle course based gym class! Our new specialized equipment will allow this class to offer a mix of spins, rolls, jumps, kicks, and obstacle challenges in a safe and fun ninja-type setting.

Kippers (ages 7+)

Our Kippers gymnastics classes follow USAG recommendations for skill progressions of Level 3. Gymnasts will refine skills learned in the Swingers classes as well as develop new skills on all apparatus.  The gymnast MUST advance from Swingers or have been evaluated by a YMCA Gymnastics Instructor to register for this class.

Swingers (1st grade+)

Our Swingers gymnastics classes follow USAG recommendations for skill progression of Level 2. Gymnasts will refine and improve skills learned in the Roller classes, as well as, develop new skills on all apparatus. The gymnast must advance from Rollers or have been evaluated by a YMCA Gymnastics Instructor to register for this class.

Rollers ( ages 8+)

Our Rollers gymnastics classes teach the fundamentals of the sport to older beginners. We follow USAG recommendations for basic skill progressions of Level 1 on balance beam, uneven bars, vault, floor exercise and trampoline. This class is designed for the student with little to no previous gymnastics experience.
