Classeses Specifically For Seniors

Strong Seniors

Socialize while you exercise! In a social setting, our senior population works on increasing their balance, flexibility, range of motion and muscular strength needed for everyday activities. Your instructor will use a variety of tools including weights, bands, chairs, balls and tubes to assist you in reaching your goals. A chair is used for seated or standing support.

Silver Seniors Classic

The SilverSneaker CLASSIC class allows you to have fun with music through a variety of exercises and designed to develop muscular strength, range in movement and activity for daily living. Hand weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated or standing support.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a graceful, low-impact exercise that can benefit people of all ages. Practitioners use elegant, controlled movements as they flow from one pose to the next. The practice looks deceptively easy, but every move works the entire body.

Pickleball at the Rec/Plex

Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use paddles to hit a ball over a net.

The Wellness Center

Our Wellness Center has a track for walking or running (13 laps to one mile). Equipment includes cardiovascular & selectorized strength machines, Ab Solos, stretching machines & free weights. The facility is accessible any time the YMCA is open for business. Equipment orientations are offered free of charge to members by appointment with the YMCA staff.

Yoga 4 Health (Chair Yoga)

This class allows individuals with tightness, balance problems, stiffness or other “special needs” to be able to practice yoga with secuFrity, confidence & safety. Using the chair as a prop provides encouragement, may reduce pain or discomfort & supports the body throughout the workout. This program improves posture, range of motion, flexibility and strength.

This choreographed class combines aerobics and dance, enabling you to have fun and exercise at the same time! A large variety of music is used. This cardio class requires balance.
