Let It Snow

When Lancaster City Schools are CLOSED due to inclement weather , there will be NO AM classes.

Please call ahead for status of classes held after 11:00 AM or discuss with your instructor before hand.

Times Seem Weird?

To give classes time to exit and enter with equipment, we are adding a 5 minute cushion to most of our classes that run back to back. This will allow "transition" time for one class to exit and the other to enter. It will also allow for a short break for instructors who are teaching back to back classes or classes that meet in another area of the YMCA.

Class Cancelled?

We must stress the importance of registering for your class(es). A class must have a minimum of 5 registrants to remain on the schedule. Classes will be cancelled due to low or no attendance.

Every attempt is made to keep all classes running on time and on schedule; however, emergency situations do occur and classes may be cancelled sometimes at the last minute. If this happens, we invite you to use the Wellness Center and all it has to offer.

Why the Class Fee?

As a member, you will receive your "core classes" free with your membership. In this brochure, we have 16 FREE classes to choose from. As new classes are added to the schedule, there will be a nominal fee attached. This fee will be only enough to cover the cost of your instructor.

CAUTION!

For the safety of participants as well as your child, we must stress that children under the age of 13 are not permitted in the Fulton Gym or Martens Gym during class times. This includes sitting along the gym walls as well as being outside the gym doors. Children ages 13 and over are welcome to attend any of the Adult classes we have running.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

Part of the Y’s commitment to strengthening community through healthy living, the program offers adults affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person. The free, 12 week program meets twice a week for 75 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease you back into fitness. Participants come to the program with different physical challenges and lifestyle goals.

The program will run twice a year with the next class beginning in February. Participants will need to be cleared by a physician and have completed the intake process by LIVESTRONG certified instructors before being eligible for the program. Reiki Massage with Jacquie Moku

Reiki Massage is a Japanese technique for stress re-duction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “cupping hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress and if it is high we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal yoga adapts traditional yoga postures for the specific needs of pregnancy through gentle yoga movements. It also helps relieve tension and teaches you how to remain calm and balanced, important skills during labor and delivery.

Hot Flow Yoga (*PASS)

Our Hot Flow Yoga is designed for those with some yoga experience and who are looking for a full body workout in a warm room, vinyasa style, to music. It uses functional strength poses and flowing sequences to create heat, burn calories and detoxify the body and mind.

Our Hot Flow will leave you feeling sweaty, strong and energized.

Deep Release Yoga (*PASS)

Deep Release is the Yin to your busy, active life. A practice that encourages a deep sense of physical and emotional wellness. This 60 minute class is designed to allow the body and mind to open into a deep sense of relaxation and wellness while encouraging detoxification and increased flexibility. Gentle, supported postures are held for between 1 and 5 minutes, recharging the body’s energetic system and inviting the mind to focus inward. Slow Burn Multi-Level (*PASS)

Slow Burn Yoga is designed for those that enjoy moving slower through the yoga sequence to allow time to explore each pose while still flowing smoothly from one post to the next connecting the mind, body and breath and progressing at your own pace. It is a thorough introduction to a basic group of yoga asanas, basic breath awareness practices and savasana along with the option to explore more intermediate poses as the session progresses. This class sensitizes students to their own body signals and helps them understand and address their physical strengths and weaknesses. To take this class you must be able to get down to, and up from the floor. Yoga 4 Health (Chair Yoga)

The YMCA fitness department is excited to again offer Yoga 4 Health/Chair Yoga. This class allows individuals with tightness, balance problems, stiffness or other "special needs" to be able to practice yoga with security, confidence and safety. Using the chair as a prop provides encouragement, may reduce pain or discomfort and supports the body throughout the workout. This program improves posture, range of motion, flexibility and strength.

Silver Sneakers Classic

The Silver Sneakers program is appropriate for older adults who are active as well as those who are sedentary, intimidated, unfamiliar with exercise, post rehabilitation programs and ALL those who enjoy a positive upbeat social environment.

The Silver Sneaker CLASSIC class allows you to have fun with music through a variety of exercises designed to develop muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living. Hand weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated or standing support.

Silver Sneakers Circuit - NEW!!!

The SilverSneakers Circuit workout offers standing, low-impact cardio work alternated with standing upper-body strength work allowing you to get a cardio workout as well as muscle in one class. A chair is used for cool down and relaxation as well as holding equipment. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level and can be adapted depending on the skill of individual participants. Circuit is the next progressive class for those in the SilverSneakers Classic class who are looking for cardio or something “more”. This class is 45 minutes with at least 30 minutes done standing.

Indoor Cycling

Indoor Cycling

Now located in the Wellness Center, enjoy the ride where the weather never matters. Traditional cycle classes are all 45 minutes in length and follow the same format as far as hills, sprints or flat surface.

There are 10 slots available in each class. When you register for a class, such as M/W/F at 6:00 AM, this reserves your bike for the entire session. There is no "guessing" as to whether there will be a bike available.

In an attempt to be flexible with riders, we have incorporated the "floater" system. If you register for a class, such as, M/W/F 6:00 AM and find that Friday is a problem, you may "float" into another class, but only if there is an open bike. This is not a guarantee. We must stress that there is NO PAY AS YOU GO or DROP IN ACCESS in this program. You must be registered to either ride or float into a class. Members are always given first opportunity for bikes; however, remember non-members may reserve bikes during non-member registration.

Gravity

Gravity (Can Only Get It Here!)

Have you tried Gravity??? We all need a little help with "gravity", so Fall is the best time to let the Gravity System pull things together for you. Gravity encourages functional exercise using an individual’s body weight as resistance. The gravity system uses a cable and pulley system, a free motion glide board and is adjustable to nine different levels of resistance. It engages all major muscle groups.

For those of you ready for a little more gravity, we implemented Gravity Plus. With Gravity Plus, you will receive six additional exercises. These classes will run 45 minutes in length. Price has been adjusted accordingly.

One of the best places for expectant mothers to exercise is in the water. Classes are offered on a pay as you go basis. Each class should be paid prior to your class, bring receipt to the pool deck.

Let's Play. The homeschool recreation class will be outlined similar to a traditional "gym class" setting. We will play group games, dodge ball, kickball, volleyball, basketball, traditional calisthenics, races and more.
